While Bulgaria’s ethnic party leader was on stage speaking on a televised conference in Sofia on Saturday, January 19, (2013), a man jumps out the audience onto the podium where the leader was and points the gun at his head.
But calmly and instinctively, Bulgaria’s leader of the movement for rights and freedoms, Ahmed Dogan, 58, faced his assassin, parries the gun and wrestles for his life.
The gunman pulls trigger but reportedly misfires.
Security officers in time lunged at gunman who dropped gun to the floor; they tackled and contained the attacker later identified as Oktai Enimehmedov, 25.
This failed assassination attempt in Bulgaria was recorded on tape.
