Petroleum from the Philippines

Petroleum from discarded plastic is manufactured in the Philippines.  Plastic products and materials that used to be thrown to dump sites now find their way to a factory in Rodriguez, Rizal where they are manufactured into fuel. Feed into a machine, they are ‘crushed into powdered form, melted and through the process of distillation, they are converted into diesel, kerosene and gas’.

Two tons of plastic collected from dump sites yield 8 drums or 1,600 liters of diesel, said the report. Production costs P4,000 per ton or P4.00 per kilo. The recycled- plastic-turn oil is P5.00 cheaper than commercial fuel.

DOST (Dept. of Science and Technology) has already shown its support to the discovery by issuing it a patent after letting the factory go into 3 months of successful test run.
Aside from providing motorists a cheaper fuel alternative, the new technology is looked up to as the antidote to the herculean problem of unused plastic materials that littered around the country.

Credit goes to the brilliant minds of Filipino inventor JAYME NAVARRO and his family of Rodriguez, Rizal, Philippines, who now runs the novel business.
